The Glass Cage: Automation and Us

This is an interesting read for anyone walking the fine line of too much technology.  It’s certainly not the only book recently to say that too much tech could be a bad thing, but it’s perhaps more thoughtfully placed than some of its contemporaries.

I also recently finished The Circle by Dave Eggers, which is a fiction book with a similar point, but unfortunately it was told with too heavy of a touch. This is suprising since Eggers previous writing seems to have had such a deft touch.

Unlike the Circle, which starts strong and get weaker as it goes along The Glass Cage gets better at the end, which is no mean trick.

Movie fans please note this is the Glass Cage by Nicholas Carr, not the Glass Carr by Nicholas Cage 🙂
